Goals and Priorities

The AER is the forum of exchange for the best practice and experiences between the regions. It also is actively engaged in the representation of the regional interests vis-à-vis the European Institutions.

Goals of the AER

to help the regions to develop strategies supporting the lifelong education and training in order to facilitate the integration of the citizens in the labour market
to guarantee the taking into account of the field of education in the European policies
to ensure the democracy through the improvement of the level of education in the regions and the possibility of the lifelong training
to promote the economy and innovation by supporting the co-operation of the regions in the field of education
to develop concepts in order to ensure continuity in the educational career of migrant and travelling children and to guarantee the information and portability of experiences, degrees and diplomas
to give impetus to increased cooperation between universities and the private sector in order to create synergies, release potentials and boost innovation.

Main points of AER Priorities in the field of Education and Training

1. Promotion of the higher education

Monitoring of the best use of EU programmes
Integration of Education into the Development Planning of Regions
Transition into the job market, fostering and continuing “Eurodyssey” programme

2. Contribution to the Lisbon Agenda

Monitoring the open method of coordination for Education and Training
Contribution to the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue Culture 2008

3. Acting for the Primary and Secondary education in the regions

Creating the strategy concerning Education for migrant and travelling children

4. Foreign Language Learning and Acquisition

Cooperate with EU action for multilingualism
