• WHO? WHAT? HOW? WHEN?

AER's Summer School 2010 on "Urban, rural and interregional mobility" will take place  in Rorschach & Arbon (CH) from 22 to 27 August 2010. All participants of AER Youth Summer School on Mobility can organise the activities on this topic in their regions and become awarded with the AER Youth Ambassador title. 

Whichever country you come from, your role is the same: to inform other young people about what can be done in your region and in Europe, to raise awareness concerning the solutions for the rural, urban and interregional mobility issues as well as to explain to regional, national and European politicians what young people want them to do in relation to this important topic.The Youth Summer School will give you the necessary tools to understand the issue of mobility through informal discussions with experts and politicians. We will also give you practical tips to prepare your role as an AER Youth Ambassador and shape your event. 

After the Youth Summer School, it is up to you to turn your ideas into reality. You will need to do your planning, advertising and finally put your plan into action.

AER Youth Ambassadors Meeting in Brussels 

During the whole year, the Ambassadors are organising in their regions an activity on sustainable development (debate, information campaign, short film, quiz etc…). As a grand finale, the AER Youth Ambassadors met in Brussels the 17th April 2008. At this meeting Youth Ambassadors had a chance to present their activities to Mr. Ladislav MIKO, Director of Directorate B - Protecting the Natural Environment, DG ENV, European Commission and to tell what young people think on environment and sustainable development.

The aim of the meeting was as well to select the best AER Youth Ambassadors Project.

General Criteria of Evaluation

• Competition only for AER Youth Ambassadors (participants of the Youth Summer School 2007)
• Activity should address the theme related to the sustainable development
• Activity should involve other young people in the region
• Activity should involve politicians, officers from the region
• Youth Ambassador is responsible for finding the resources (money, equipment, venue etc) with support of the regional county council
• Organisation of any type of activity: debate, information campaign to inform other young people, create a short film, hold an event in the Youth Parliament, organise a study, quiz, cross-border project.

Criteria of Evaluation

• Content: How original and creative is the project?
• Results: How significant is the impact of the project on the young people?
• Dissemination: How well is information about the project disseminated?
• Sustainability: How sustainable is the project?

The Best AER Youth Ambassador Project on Sustainable Development 2007/2008
"Healthier surroundings"
Project by Anton Kuzmin from Olomoucky Kraj, Czech Republic

Anton Kuzmin together with Olomouc Region Youth County Council prepared the project: “Debating Tournament for the Healthier Surrounding” on 7th March in Olomouc. The activity was organised as a five round debate tournament for more than 100 pupils of the high schools and the higher classes of the middle schools, aged between 14 and 20. Students had to express their own opinion on the themes they received along with the invitation for the event (for example: "we should recycle more than now", "we should introduce more environment-friendly public transportation", "protecting of the green belts have to be changed". They had about 1 month time to prepare their viewpoints. A jury of judges was made up of members of the Youth county council of the Olomouc Region.
