Regional strategies for economic development

AER is committed to bring support to the Regions in their developing their economic strategies, via the organisation of all kinds of activities in a wide range of topics, including innovation, SMEs, entrepreneurship, research and development, etc.

Recent and ongoing initiatives
  • "Europe 2020" - strategy for our future

    As a successor of the Lisbon Strategy, the Europe 2020 Strategy aims to address the major structural challenges facing Europe today, including climate change, globalisation, ageing population and economic downturn.
  • Regions in the economic crisis

    AER carried out a survey on member regions' strategies to support the regional economy, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
  • AER Innovation Award 2010

    Each year, AER honours the initiative which has stimulated, fostered and implemented innovation in a region.
  • European Enterprise Award

    The EEA, offered by the European Commission, recognise and reward outstanding initiatives that support entrepreneurship at the regional leve

What's new in Europe?

 

The 8th European Forum on Eco-Innovation took place from 20 - 21 of April 2010, in Bilbao (Spain).

The theme of this annual event was:

“Making Eco-Innovation happen in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises”

The European Forum on Eco-innovation is a genuine platform for the cross fertilization of ideas and solutions where you will find opportunities to discuss strategies for adaption to Climate Change and to convey your recommendations to the Commission and Member States.

  • ECREIN+ INTERREG IVC

    ECREIN+ helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practices in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and poten- tial solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.

  • From Subsidiarity to Success: The Impact of Decentralisation on Economic Growth

    Pilot study on decentralisation indicators. The objective is to collect data and retrieve information and to convert it into indicators that reflect the autonomy of regions across European countries and their ability to shape their own economic development policies.   • Eurisy conference: 11 September 2008, Brussels
    The conference "Benefits from Satellite Information and Services" presented the mid-term findings of Eurisy’s Programme for European Local and Regional Authorities (LRA) in order to stimulate the political debate on how to increase the benefits LRAs obtain from satellite information and services (SIS).
  • EURANEC - European Network of Regions for the Anticipation of Economic Change
    This network was set up in 2007 and is now looking for further partners in order to enlarge the cooperation scope.
  • The European Commission releases a "Practical Guide to EU funding opportunities for Research and Innovation."
    The Guide helps potential beneficiaries to rapidly identify how they can access European funds in all the stages of a project.
  • FoCus: Fostering Cross-regional Transfer of Innovative e-Business policies

  • Strategic Project Management Tool-Kit for Creating Digital Literacy Initiatives
