This workshop took place in the framework of the e-health week. Politicians, health administrators, researchers and industry gathered in order discuss future e-health priorities at the occasion of the e-health week that took place on 10-15 May in Budapest (H).
The AER e-he@lth network responded to the Commission's invitation to organise a regional forum to present the regional perspective to e-health.
This workshop aimed to showcase the role of the regions in further deploying personal e-health solutions, with a focus on actions to manage the chronic pathologies that require the most resources in Europe: diabetes, cardio-vascular diseases and obstructive pulmonary disease.
A selection of regional examples illustrated how and why regions are using telemedicine for chronic disease management. These presentations were followed by a discussion between a panel of key stakeholders (patients, the industry and regional decision-makers) on how we can build on current experience in the regions and further facilitate cooperation between the different partners.
The aim of this session was to identify the steps that need to be taken to link the various regional initiatives across Europe today and achieve the AER e-he@lth network’s vision: dropping the ‘e’ from ‘e-health’.
