Structure
Political priorities 2009
-
Political and financial framework conditions concerning the work field of Committee 3:
to ensure that the regional point of view is taken account of in an early stage in national and European decision making and that regional autonomy and competencies are not hampered or diminished
-
Cultural policies:
to defend and promote cultural and linguistic diversity as a richness and to raise awareness with the citizen
-
Cultural Heritage:
to help the Regions tackling their problems concerning the preservation and use of their cultural heritage
-
Interregional cooperation:
to promote interregional cooperation within Europe and beyond with a special focus on interregional cooperation in the Mediterranean, South-East and Eastern Europe as well as in the field of development cooperation

Education/Training:
to assist the Regions in addressing the multiple challenges with regard to creating inclusive societies and to develop lifelong learning strategies facilitating the citizens' integration into the labour market

Media & Information Technology:
to promote and enhance diversity in the media as well as safe technologies, their general accessibility and their safe use
-
Youth:
to ensure that young people play an active role in political processes and that their views are taken account of in the decisions
Main objectives
- To promote the diversity of culture, media and education and to ensure that the regional point of view concerning cultural, educational and audiovisual policies is taken account of in European policies
- To deliver democracy through diversity by promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity as a richness and to raise awareness with the citizen
- To promote the modernisation and internationalisation of regional governance and to link the activities of European regions to their counterparts on other continents
- To enhance the participation of young people by giving them a platform to exchange with politicians on topics relevant to them in order to further their political involvement in the AER, in their regions and in Europe
