Ten months after the final adoption of the Regulation on the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), the Assembly of European Regions (AER) follows closely the amplification of the Regulation by the 27 EU Member States, who face an implementation deadline of 1st August 2007 to adapt their national legislation to the requirements of the Regulation.
The AER member regions agree on the potential benefits of EGTC as a practical tool for territorial cooperation in their territories, which is non-bureaucratic and user-friendly for regional and local governments and thus has the maximum added-value for all concerned.
During the conference on 10th July, we want to tackle the main practical questions concerning the use of the EGTC by the regions and discuss the main benefits and obstacles in its use.
