Even beautiful weather and fairytale-like surroundings did not diminish young people's motivation to prove that 'Subsidiarity is more than a word!' for youth actively involved in European regions.
Discussing youth participation with European and regional decision-makers; brainstorming in 5 interactive working sessions 'Think Global, Act Regional!'; adapting the Strategic Programme 2010-2011 and electing the Youth President - these are only some of the results of the meeting.
During Plenary Session II participants elected the Youth President and Vice-President.The Presidential Elections were preceded by a vivid debate that proved an excellent opportunity to ask questions to 3 candidates running for Presidency.
It was during 5 Working Sessions that each Youth Committee nominated a Head chairing the Committee. According to the Strategic Programme, the YRN Presidium will now act as a main decision-making body within the Network.

He joined AER in 2008 as a youth team member and has been actively involved in YRN ever since. In 2009 Olov was elected the Chairman of the Youth Committee on Healthcare and Social Affairs. Before being elected as YRN's second President, Olov said: "We can make a change for young people in Europe. What really makes me committed to this is that I think we have one of the best platforms for youth. Still we can reach further. I think we can and will define the youth politics of today and tomorrow."

MICHAL MATLAK, Westpomerania (PL), was elected YRN's Vice-President. Michal is a former Head of the Youth Committee on Media and Communication. After having graduated from the cultural studies at the University of Wroclaw (PL), Michal started to study media and communication at the Humboldt University in Berlin. "As a Vice-President of YRN, I'd like to create a strongest youth network in Europe" said Michal, after being elected as YRN's Vice-President.

The principle of subsidiarity is one of the core values of the AER Youth Regional Network. Following this principle, all decision-making processes should be taken at the lowest level of governance, i.e. closest to the citizens, including the youngest generation of Europeans.
AER Youth Regional Network, Europe's unique platfrom of regional youth councils, parliaments and organisations, offers a perfect opportunity to boost regional youth participatory structures.
Only a well-established structure within the Network allows its members to strive for a greater recognition of regional participatory structures in the future. To achieve this aim participants will:
During the meeting young participants will focus on regional youth participation and will take active part in:
They will also discuss their contribution to YRN's 1st Working Group on Regional Youth Participation.

Olov Oskarsson, Jämtland (S):
"As the newly elected YRN president I want us to start acting and make changes. We can really help all young people in Europe. What really makes me committed to this is that I think we have one of the best platforms for youth but still we can reach further."
