Launching of AER working group

Istanbul Provincial Council proposed to establish a working group in the AER under the Social Policy and Public Health Committee (2), in order to implement the UN-Convention on rights of people with disabilities at regional level in accordance with the subsidiarity principle.

18 AER Member Regions participated in the conference, hold in Istanbul (TR) on 19-21 February 2009, and discussed about the proposal on launching the AER-working group "Equal Europe for People with Disabilities. The overall aim is the creation of a transnational European space in which persons with disabilites lead their lives as full citizens, and participate in public life.
