Cohesion in Europe: Regions Take up the Challenge

The European Union’s regional policy is at the heart of our continent’s identity!

Harmonising territorial development all over Europe...

Bringing the EU closer to citizens...

Enhancing regions’ ownership of EU 2020:

The European Union’s regional policy is at the heart of our continent’s identity!

Regions must have a say in the definition of cohesion policy and this conference marked a milestone in this process.

Organised under the aegis of the Belgian Presidency, this conference collected over 250 actors and experts involved in European cohesion policy. The high-level debate gave Regional representatives to share views on the main issues at stake, i.e. How to best link cohesion policy and Europe 2020, would it be a good idea to enlarge the scope of indicators for eligibility to EU funds and evaluation of the programmes, or the controversial EC proposals regarding the principle of conditionnality.
