Culture

Culture is the major component of our Regional and European cultural identities. As such, it represents a key element for strengthening Regional and European co-operation.

Cultural richness and diversity must be preserved, enhanced and transmitted to future generations as a source of intercultural dialogue.

The AER actions are targeted towards supporting, defending, promoting and helping Regional cultures and diversity by providing best practice, management skills, know-how concerning funding opportunities and by encouraging the creation of partnership pools.

Cultural Tourism

Cultural tourism is concerned with a region's culture, especially its arts and cultural heritage, but increasing also it cultural landscape, its traditions and diversity. The promotion of cultural supply stands in a context of globalisation, of competition and of increased market transparence on the one side and of tourists looking for quality and prices on the other.

Regions that dispose of experience in this field are invited to share their examples of best practice and to send their contributions. The work will lead up to a presentation in a European conference that is supposed to take place in autumn 2010.
