Education & Training

No Innovation without Education

Education and Training is one of the main prerogatives for regional governments all over the world. They determine the future economic and social development of each region and play an invaluable role in innovation and technology.

Furthermore, the role of Education and Training in the promotion of active citizenship cannot be underestimated.

The Assembly of the European Regions pays great attention to interregional co-operation on Education and Training. Thanks to our action the regional investment in human capital should become more effective and the standard of living improve according to the formula: "no innovation without education".

Summer Schools

Every year, AER organises a Summer School  with the close cooperation of regions.

The aim is to:
- Help regional administrations to better understand how they can encourage young people to undertake entrepreneurial activities, thus fostering job creation, combating °•brain-drain' and contributing to economic growth.
- Help young people tol understand how they can ensure that their own regions provide improved support to youth entrepreneurship.

This year the Summer School focuses on "Water,Engagement for our Future", and it will be held in Valencia, 24-28 August.

Migrant Children

Conscious of current challenges, AER member regions have expressed the need to tackle problems in relation to the education of migrant and travelling children. To this end, they will

    * inventory related regional policies and best practice,
    * exchange experience,
    * develop strategies to improve the management of educational challenges in relation to migration, in particular with a view to facilitating transition,
    * work on a (web-based) portable education passport that avoids disruption in the information on the child's educational situation and career.
