“I am grateful to the AER for this excellent training. I appreciated the deep involvement and enthusiasm of the trainers to put the EU institutions and tools at a level of understanding and to give us the stimulation to “use” more the European institutions.”
Participant of the AER Introductory Course on European Affairs
If regions want to be at the forefront of smart policy making and good governance they need to have the right skills and the appropriate capacities. AER is committed to improving knowledge and capacity building in the regional administrations throughout Europe and has therefore established a unique training system for its members.
BACKGROUND:
OBJECTIV:
Knowledge transfer and practitioner development are the main objectives of these training sessions in which regions train other regions (peer methodology).
TARGET GROUP:
The training is designed for AER member region officers and politicians - either from the regions' Brussels offices or home regions offices. A specific target group is indicated for each course - adopted to content, geographical location and scope of the course.
METHODOLOGY:
The content combines tutorial input, case studies, workshops, group discussions and delegate presentations, set in an open, hands-on, how to-apply-it-today atmosphere. Trainers and facilitators usually work in the field they teach. Thus a direct and practical knowledge transfer will be ensured. This peer learning method forms the basis of the AER Training Academy methodology.
PRACTICAL:
Should you be interested in one of the Training Academies, please look at Training Academy table which you will find on the left hand side. Click on the relevant session to find out further details about the course. Registration to the training session is free of charge for AER members.
In delivering the training, the AER works in partnership with a small number of its member regions that already have a good track record in delivering training in European affairs. Please find here a list of Trainers involved in the AER TA.
1/ Identifying YOUR NEEDS:
In order for us to identify your specific training needs in the region we ask you to fill in the attached questionnaire (see right hand bar).
2/ HOSTING a Training Academy:
Training sessions will also be delivered outside of Brussels, would a group of regions or a political group require so. If you would like to host a training session, please express your interest by completing the interest form which you will find on the right hand bar.
