2010 will be a decisive year for Europe’s future Strategy for Growth and Jobs. Without doubt, the future “EU 2020” policy has a key role to play in shaping regional competitiveness and business environment for the coming decade. However, the strategy can only be successful if it includes public and private sector regional actors in its development and implementation and tangibly improves framework conditions for growth and jobs.
Forging effective partnerships between regional stakeholders will be one of the key factors for the strategy’s sustainability and impact. AER and EUROCHAMBRES, together representing regions, businesses and their support structure, have therefore joined forces to organise a debate on the EU 2020 Strategy.
The aim of the event was to present AER’s and EUROCHAMBRES’s contributions to the consultation on the “EU 2020” strategy and to highlight from a regional and business perspective the relevance of regional actors in the implementation of the strategy.
Furthermore, the conference presented good practices that have been jointly implemented by regions and Chambers during the 2000 – 2010 period.
The event was kindly hosted by the Representation of State of Baden-Württemberg to the EU, Rue Belliard 60-62, B-1040 Brussels from 09:30- 16:00.

In addition to presenting their views on the EU 2020 strategy, AER and Eurochambers highlighted good practices from diverse regions, including Dolj (RO), Rhône-Alpes (F), Lombardy (I) and Baden-Württemberg (D), Wallonie (B).
