
An advanced course of the AER Training Academy on EU Climate change and Energy policy will take place on Wednesday, 14 January 2009, at the AER office in Brussels.
Already now climate change is having many discernible impacts, ranging from the increases in temperature to the rising sea levels (as a result of melting polar ice caps) and increasingly frequent storms and floods. Policy makers on all governance levels are challenged to find solutions and implement adequate measures to fight the impacts of climate change. On European level the Union has decided to take firm action against harmful emissions and pro renewable energy sources.
To combine regional efforts and knowledge with political and financial assistant from EU level, can make regional authorities more effective in their work. To equip them with the necessary knowledge and instruments to impact on EU decision making and receiving relevant funding is the aim of this coming Training Academy.
1) Very good inside knowledge on current EU policies and lobbying strategies for regions;
2) First hand information on the specific funding instruments for environmental projects and on how to be the most successful in applying for EU environmental funding resources;
3) Information on other regional initiatives in the field of energy and climate change.
