L'ARE s'engage à soutenir les Régions dans la définition de leurs stratégies de développement économique, via l'organisation de toutes sortes d'activitiés dans un large panel de thèmes, dont l'innovation, les PME, l'esprit d'entreprenariat, la recherche et le développement, etc.

"Europe 2020" - stratégie pour notre avenir
La stratégie 2020 pour l'Europe succède à la Stratégie de Lisbonne et vise à répondre aux défis structurels qui nous font face aujourd'hui tels que le changement climatique, le vieillissement de la population et les effets de la crise économiques.

Prix de l'ARE pour l'innovation 2011
Chaque année l'ARE offre ce prix à la région qui met en place la stratégie la plus efficace pour stimuler l'innovation dans sa région.

Quelle actualité européenne?
- A "Smart Specialisation Platform" to promote innovation in European regions
On the path to achieve the objectives in the field of research and innovation set by the Europe 2020 strategy, in June 2011 the Commission launched a Smart Specialisation Platform to support regions and member States in better defining their R&I strategies.
The platform brings together expertise from regions, research bodies, businesses and Commission services (as the Regional Innovation Monitor).
This new structure, also called S³ platform, provides direct assistance to registered regions in developing, implementing and monitoring their research and innovation strategies.

AER Working group on Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The AER Working group for Entrepreneurship and Innovation was created in 2011 with the purpose of strengthening entrepreneurship and innovation as a priority tool for today’s regional development, growth and employment strategies, always taking into account territorial diversity.
Orhan Albayrak, from the Istanbul Provincial Council, is its chairman.
Among the realized or planned activities of the working group, we can mention study visits to “best practice” regions/institutions and active assistance to regions to carry out SWOT analysis regarding entrepreneurship and innovation policy.

ECREIN+ INTERREG IVC
ECREIN+ helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practices in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.

Pilot study on decentralisation indicators. The objective is to collect data and retrieve information and to convert it into indicators that reflect the autonomy of regions across European countries and their ability to shape their own economic development policies.

AER Survey - Regional policy to tackle the economic crisis
In order the exchange experience and provide stakeholders with information on how regions can react to the crisis, AER carried out a survey on member regions' strategies to support the regional economy, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
